A lovely old cello bow of very high quality (although unbranded) came in to our shop for basic service work. The bow had been in daily use for 49 years but hadn't been serviced or even rehaired in decades(4).

The most serious of the repairs involved a complete replacement of the top of the frog (called a cheval), including a new underside made to match the profile of the bottom of the stick to assure radial and axial stability
Other repairs included retipping the head with mastodon, replacing the nipple and re-doing the bushings in the butt end of the stick, and replacing the screw and eyelet with a fine french screw.
